DawaCheck ("the app") helps you compare medicine prices in India and find cheaper, government-verified alternatives. This page explains what data the app handles and why.
You sign in with your Google account before the app can be used — this keeps the daily free allowance of checks fair for everyone and prevents automated abuse. Google confirms your identity to our server, which verifies it independently and never trusts the app's own claim. Accounts created earlier with a verified phone number continue to work.
Before you sign in, the app asks for your age range, gender, and approximate location (detected using your device's location permission and resolved to a city/district/state/PIN code — not your precise coordinates). This information is stored in a record that contains no name, email address, phone number, or account identifier of any kind, and cannot be linked back to you or your account.
Each time you search for or scan a medicine, the medicine's name and salt composition is added to this same anonymous record, alongside the age range, gender, and location bucket above and the season in which the search happened. We use this anonymized information to understand regional and seasonal medicine-access and pricing patterns — for research, product improvement, aggregate reporting, and other lawful purposes permitted under applicable Indian law. Because these records are never linked to your identity, they are retained even after you delete your account.
Medicines you add to My List are saved to your account on our server (so the list follows you if you switch phones), and cached on your device. It is not sold or shared with anyone.
From Settings → Account → "Delete my account" in the app, you can permanently remove your account — your Google account info or phone number, your check count, subscription and recharge records, and your saved My List — from our server at any time. This also clears the local copy on your device. This action cannot be undone. The anonymous location/demographic and search-pattern records described above are not linked to your account in any way and are therefore not affected by this deletion. To delete your account without the app, see Delete your account.
